Nintendo Wii beats Apple TV
Yesterday, Apple announced that it’s Apple TV will soon be able to stream YouTube videos. Apple CEO Steve Jobs was quoted saying, “This is the first time users can easily browse, find and watch YouTube videos right from their living room couch.” After reading the quote, I was left feeling a little confused. I’ve been browsing, finding and watching YouTube videos right from my living room couch for weeks now on my Nintendo Wii, which connects wirelessly to the internet and includes an Opera browser. With my Wii, which costs $50 less than the Apple TV, I’m not only able to watch videos on YouTube, but I can browse any site on the net and bookmark favorites just as easily as I can on my computer. Wil interviews Team Tiger Awesome
I recently got the chance to sit down with one of the members of the 13th most popular sketch comedy group, Team Tiger Awesome, an L.A.-based troupe made up of Clint Cage, Michael Truly, and interviewee Nick Mundy. Houston natives Mundy and Cage grew up in the same town and went to the same schools growing up. Mundy went to the University of St. Thomas for college and Cage went to Texas Christian Southern University where he met their third main player, Truly. Together they formed Team Tiger Awesome. Breathing new life into TV sketch comedy
Sketch comedy shows seem to be getting a television revival these days. New shows have been popping up on MTV, VH1 and Fuse and even major broadcast networks like NBC are adding programs like Thank God You’re Here to their rosters. Years ago, there was a similar surge when sketch comedy titan Saturday Night Live was joined by programs like MadTV, The Jenny McCarthy Show, The State, Kids in the Hall and others in the broadening world of sketch shows.
