A friend of mine once described MySpace as the virtual equivalent of a high school locker. The goal is to cover it with as much overpersonalized mindless pop culture crap as possible then abandon it for next year's unlucky recipient.

I've used both MySpace and Facebook since 2004 when the networks first started. MySpace have always appeared to be more of a spammer site, every time I log on I have an inbox full of messages filled with spam and strangers "Holla back cutie" friend requests, which is pretty much like online harassment to me. I never understood the phenomenon of "Myspace" stardom... (every other girl is an import model with 380,000 friends). While some features of Myspace may appeal to 12 year olds, such as changing backgrounds, music, etc. I would agree that Myspace would quickly become a thing of the past (such as Friendster, Xanga) unless they find a way to do a break through make-over of the site.

I agree, Facebook and Twitter do no directly compete with each other, while many people may use both, but ultimately the two platforms serve different purposes to the users who understand the power in how to utilize them.
