BB8 = BB6
After the big Eric/Amber confrontation, I was sure Eric would be leaving this past Thursday. I’ve been protesting the feeds and BBAD since Nick’s eviction, so I never saw the Nerd Herd come back together and decide to vote Kail out. Even though I don’t like Kail, I was pretty sad to see her leave because it meant Eric stayed and the Donatos would be target #1.
I was even more horrified when Jessica won HOH and Eric and Dustin engaged in such excessive celebration that it was almost sickening. I understand that they’re happy, their ally is in control and they can put up Dick and Danielle. Still, I don’t remember the other team gloating so much when they won HOH. Last week when Danielle won after her closest friend had been booted, I didn’t see her jumping up and down and taunting the other team or vowing revenge.
What was most surprising to me is the way that this season is playing out. It all seems eerily similar to BB6 when the cool team, the Sovereign 6, made the critical error of putting up James, an ally who they had suspected was playing both sides. They let the original Nerd Heard (see picture) get in their heads and convince them to put up one of their own instead of one of the opposing team. This meant they had cut James and Sarah from their alliance, thus losing their numerical upper hand in the game.
This year, the Donatos made the completely stupid decision to cut out Nick, someone who had vowed never to turn on either one of them. By eliminating someone who would have been their biggest ally, they let the Nerd Herd 2.o get in their heads and they lost all power in the house.
Just like in BB6, after the stronger players self-destructed their own alliance, the weaker players were able to pick them of one by one.
I think it’s totally fair that the Donatos have to pay the price for their fuck up. For them, this will be the summer of consequences. Dick and Danielle SHOULD be voted out because they’re not playing the game very well.
At the same time, this IS a tv show and Dick, in particular, is one of the most entertaining HGs ever. He’s confrontational, he’s loud, he stands out, all these are the qualities that make for good tv. As much as I think he should suffer for his strategic sins, I certainly don’t want to sit around watching Dustin and Jessica lounge around in bed and be waited on for another minute!
In BB6, the strong and likable players, like Kaysar and Janelle, made huge errors that ended up costing them the game. That’s cool, that’s fair, no problem. The only issue was that the remaining players were the most boring crop of losers I’ve ever seen. Yes, it’s a game, but it’s also a show and sitting around watching Meth Mom talk about the Bible all day long is just not what I signed up for.

Hmm, I can’t really comment on if this season is similar to season 6 because I skipped season 6. Based on first impressions they all seemed to be models and actors. Nothing wrong with that but when the entire cast is interested in getting discovered just as much as winning the game, I got a bit turned off. I like this year’s show because you have a lot more real people from diverse backgrounds and finally you are getting to see the psychology of being couped up in the house w/ people who do not all get along.
Its not surprising you were not happy with the celebration when Jessica won. You seemed pretty adamant about Eric leaving but if you put your feelings for Nick aside, you would see it was a great moment if you wanted him to stay in the house or not. If you wanted him to stay it was great because you had two legit teams w/ absolutely no floaters. Now its a true competition. Its the same reason even if you didn’t want him to stay as well. Now you have your good guys to root for and your bad guys to root for. That classic storyline works 9 out of 10 times.
I really want to comment on your strong player analogy because I don’t think there are really any strong players, except maybe for Jen who seems to win a lot of competitions. I won’t comment only because I don’t understand what you are basing strong on so maybe its all relative.
I disagree with you that both Dick and Danielle should be voted out. Wait maybe I do agree they should be targets but not for the same reason. Dick should be voted out because of the way he is playing the game. He is making it a point to being brutally honest with everyone and even though that could work, it will backfire if he goes overboard and pushes everyone away to the point they just want him out not because of the game player he is but he just makes them feel uncomfortable. Danielle is a strong player but I think she is too silent sometimes. I think she should have used last week to show that she understands everyone’s concerns about her father. While there is no escaping that she and her father are allies, she should have done something to show that she isn’t with him 100% or rather she isn’t his puppet.
Again, I am not sure who you are referring to this season who was a strong player but I agree w/ you about your likeable players no longer being here. There were two likeable players in my opinion - Carol and Nick. No one had anything against Carol except Jessica but thats because no one knew her long enough to make any opinions. Nick was likeable because he indeed seemed to play both sides and was chill with everyone. I think really only Nick applies because he was the only one to make a huge error and that was to join Kail’s alliance the first week. Besides Nick has there been any other likeable players? I mean right now, I like Jen, Dustin, and Jessica but a few weeks ago, I liked Kail, Dick, Jameka, and Mike. My point is likeability changes on a weekly (daily if you follow the show through the net) basis. There aren’t any strong players because strong players are like Dr. Will and Dannielle (Danny). Strong players are players that influence game play on a regular basis and no one has done that so far. Everyone minus Dick is trying play under the radar so no one pushes anyone regularly. Not even Eric because even though he is under directions to do so, unfortunately he is screwed. He has to play his game and America’s game and unfortunately, America wants him gone otherwise they wouldn’t have pushed for Dustin to go (I am assuming because Dustin didn’t go to vote out Eric last week).
I agree with you (minus the name calling) about Amber. Her act is waring on my nerves. She cries about everything. Its hard to even be sympathetic for her. Even if I put aside my dislike for her because of her past abortions, equating her love for her dog to the love for her daughter, and her comments about Jewish people, I don’t like her game play. She is way too emotionally unstable. Not even in the crazy lady way either. I kind of even believe that her past drug use might be affecting the way she thinks and she can’t help to be the way that she is right now. How can I think that and be entertained by the situation at the same time?
Jameka is quickly getting on my bad side as well. I respect her religious beliefs but you can’t be a Bible toting Christian one minute and be a pissed off woman the next. I understand her going at Dick but she shouldn’t have. I do not recall anywhere in the Bible where God would justify that kind of behavior.
