Another interesting post. I of course disagree w/ a lot of what you said. I am not sure if you were including me when you mentioned people who support Eric and dislike Dick. In the case that you do, I just want to re-clarify some of my points.

Dick.
I am not for or against Dick being voted out of the house. I am not rooting for any one person and wouldn't care that much who won the game at this point. My problem with Dick is that he is immature. You make a good argument that he is entertaining and you seem to have a better pulse of America than I do (i.e. you miss Nick greatly, you can't stand Eric) but for me that’s a serious turnoff. I look at television a little differently than most others. I actually appreciate different types of genres. In college I headed up our college television station's entertainment department so I guess it’s hammered into me that a drama is a drama, a comedy is a comedy, and so on. So when I watch a reality television show, I look at it as real people doing things in the real world but w/ crazy parameters. I do not look at it as a comedy, or as a drama, or as a thriller; I look at it as a reality show. I am open to multi-genre shows (i.e. the romantic comedy and what not) but there needs to be a primary genre. Big Brother's primary genre is reality.

Big Brother is one of two reality shows I watch (the other being the Surreal Life). The reason is because I expect the show to be based on reality and on actual real people. If these people are rude, disgusting, arrogant, or basically people I don't want to be around in my life, I am not going to watch the show. Why I watch Big Brother is because there is a nice balance (and please remember I don't follow it like many do. I stopped watching the after dark show, monitoring the net, and watching the feeds). If this show was full of Dicks (hahaha, nice pun), I wouldn't watch the show period. This is the reason why I didn't watch Season 6 because based on first impressions these didn't seem like a community you would find in the real world (I would later regret this decision because it seemed like James, Kaysar, and the other BB6 people on All-stars were a neat group of people).

Back on point though. I wouldn't and haven't pushed for Dick to be evicted because of his attitude or actions. I just want him to grow up. To me this is reality tv, and he should act like a 40 year old would act in reality. If that’s the way he acts in real life - fine, but just like in real life, I am not rooting extra hard for the guy because he is immature (or as you would say 'entertaining').

Eric.
You are right on the money about me wanting him to stay in the game because he is America's player even though I don't vote for these America's Choice things. I will also admit that I do think being America's player is hindering his own game but I am not sure if it’s unfair. It’s unfair in only one way: America is purposely trying to rid America's player. I said it before and I will say it again, Eric is a douche bag but he is still America's player. From my perspective you have to get behind him but this depends on your perspective. For me, I see the role of America's player is to play the game as if America was in the house. For others though, they might see the role of America's player as something more. They can do whatever they want with the player even if it means it will cause their player to lose the game. Personally, I think that is poor sportsmanship but again that’s based on my personal perspective of what the role of America's player should be.

Regarding Eric bringing little to the game, I think that relates to my above point regarding Dick. Personally, I would watch the show if Eric was on it. He is annoying but not annoying enough for me to turn off the television. Dick is obnoxious and makes me want to turn off the television. But again, it’s a personal opinion. If you see Big Brother as just another entertainment show I guess you make a solid point. I don’t see it as another television show and expect certain things out of it. Eric seems real and thus would make a good participant in a reality tv show. Then again, I only watch two reality tv shows (does American Idol count as reality tv or a game show?) so again, I don't have the pulse of America like you do.

I don't want to see Eric go simply because he is America's player but if America wants him out, so be it. It might sound like I am rooting for Eric but actually I am just rooting for the America's player role and even at that I am not even necessarily rooting for whoever has that role to win, just have the role exist until its erased through good competition not by sabotage.

----
Tonight's show was a good show. Dustin getting evicted brings new life to the show. You have a shift of power and like with every shift so far, its not going to go as smoothly as planned so that should be good. Um, I am happy that Eric was able to spin America's choice into serving him. If that was America's intention, I am definitely down with that. If not, I am okay with that too. It’s also great to see Eric is finally realizing America is not rooting for him. He didn't actually say that but you could read his expressions in the diary room. I didn't necessarily want to see Dustin go (and that does not mean I wanted to see Dick go either) but I just wanted America to play in what was in Eric's best interest (aka America's best interest). I want to say Danielle winning HOH brings more interest to the show but I am not sure. Based on what CBS aired the teams are very lopsided so it seems pretty clear Jameka and Amber are the targets this week. If I didn't watch the show, I would have been more intrigued because Jessica and Eric would also be targets (but who knows maybe they will be).

Again, thanks for letting me ramble.
