The Week 1 Nominees are…

Lydia and Chima.  I am a bit dissapointed because I do like Lydia but as Jesse not so eloquently put it, its part of the game.  I am going to put the nominations aside for a moment and discuss my impressions of the show.

I cannot watch this show anymore from a comfortable position.  Its nothing unique about this season but for the past few seasons, including this one, I do work/chores/etc while watching the show.  How much I stop what I am doing to focus on the show gives me an idea of how much I enjoyed it.  I enjoyed this episode.  This episode really gave us a chance to understand many of the house guests.  In the past that did not happen this early mainly because of outside interference on the part of the Big Brother producers/editors.  Unlike in the past, no house guest has been put into any comprimising positions and thus forced to take on a particular personality or behavior.  Thank you behind the scene folks for staying behind the scenes!!!

My initial impressions of many of the house guests still have not changed.  Lydia and Kevin are still two of my favorites, Natalie is absolutely adorable, and Chima is a diva.  Some of my initial impressions have changed though.  Casey indeed wants to be viewed as just another guy and not the elder of the house but he demonstrated in the all or nothing competition that he knows when its time to focus on business.  There wasn’t any hint of part-time DJ out there, only a bright teacher.  It worked because he helped lead his team to victory.  My impressions of Russel haven’t really changed but rather have magnified.  This dude is so full of himself.  He isn’t an idiot but he is not as smart as he thinks he is.  Jesse would be a fool to trust him.  Speaking of Jesse, unlike many of you, I like him but I am also dissapointed in him.

Jesse is a unique character.  Leading up to nominations and evictions he seems like a very smart game player.  When it comes time to nominate or vote though, he always seems to pick one of the worst options.  Lets bring the nominations back into play now.  The Chima nomination wasn’t a bad one.  She is developing a serious attitude problem and even though she is being used as a pawn, I don’t think it will upset too many people if she is voted out of the house.  The Lydia nomination was a dissapointment though.  Jesse said himself that he considered her an ally and a strong player.  While his teammates view her as a threat, Jesse has to do what is best for him.  That was pretty much what he had been saying throughout the entire episode yet he nominates her and really she is the ultimate target for this week (pre-veto ceremony).  I know Jesse has to show his teammates that he trusts them but the way the game is setup right now, he doesn’t have to do this right now.  I am not saying he should deceive them but none of them are going to betray him for the time being because they are a part of his team and its to their benefit for him to stay.  Maybe they plan on backdooring someone but I can’t be sure of that since there was no mention of it during the show.

I will give Jesse some props with regard to Laura.  Some people might think she should be on the block and Jesse did consider putting her up there (in lieu of Lydia), but like her implants she is dead weight and isn’t a threat right now.  There are too many people in the house so one vote isn’t crucial yet and she isn’t really a threat in competitions so why not keep her around for a couple of weeks?  Also give props to Jesse for seeing through Laura’s advances.  He could have easily been seduced by her fake feminine charms but he wasn’t sucked in.  However you feel about Jesse, you must admit he is here to play the game.

That is it for now.  No predictions on who is going to be evicted because if you scroll down, you will see who was evicted.  Since we already do know who will be evicted my next post will be reflections of the veto and eviction ceremonies.  My initial impressions are good ones but I am going to miss Braden.  Dude really is a free spirit and I am going to miss that positive vibe he brought to the house.  I am interested in seeing how and why he was evicted from the house.  Hopefully it will be good television.
