Week 2: New HoH and New Nominations

Coming into this week I think even the old school Big Brother fans had to be excited.  Ronnie had betrayed one of his many alliances and then won the head of household.  The former happens a lot in this game but I can’t remember anyone going from the dog house to king of the castle in less than one show.  If you can, comment below!
The show starts off where the eviction show ended last week and here are my impressions:  Lydia is no longer a favorite of mine.  She said Braden deserved to leave based on what he said.  Then what does Lydia deserve for backstabbing a friend?  I thought Laura was the one who was fake but it’s looking more and more like that description better fits Lydia.  Speaking of Laura she continues to look better and better to me.  The way CBS cut the show it appears as if she was the first one to realize Ronnie was playing both sides.  I am guilty of judging a book by its cover.  I apologize Laura if you happen to ever read this.

Ronnie is in my dog house at the moment.  I have already mentioned how much disdain I have for lying so if you watched the show, this should be no surprise to you.  I respect Michele for admitting to Chima that she voted to evict her.  Yeah, it got confrontational but she took her medicine and both parties moved on.  Ronnie, even after winning HoH, continued to deny he did not know who went against the plan to vote out Chima.  Ugh, disgusting!

After Ronnie denied knowing who flipped Laura clued in Jeff, Jordan, and Michele about Ronnie’s betrayal.  That wasn’t the best part.  After she did, Ronnie re-enters the room and she gets the trio to play mind games with him about the traitor (aka himself).  Ronnie actually looks a bit startled and starts to throw Michele under the bus even though 1. they know he is full of it and 2.  Michele already admitted to the other house guests she voted to evict Chima.  If this plays out right, Ronnie is going to realize he overplayed his hand in this episode.  Since this is Big Brother expect people to get loud and obnoxious or in other words stay tuned for some great television.

I am going to assume a commercial break happened and when we came back, Ronnie went to the athletes and admitted he was lying to The Outsiders.  This will hurt Ronnie.  I can understand why he wants to boast but he just admitted very broodishly that he is playing both sides of the fence.  One side is always going to appreciate having a spy in the other camp but at the same time the level of trust they have in that spy will depend on how loyal he is and continues to be.  If Ronnie makes one misstep, its over.  He is walking a tight rope right now and only time will tell if he falls off.  This reminds me of my nomination predictions from last week and I am more confident in them now.  In order for Ronnie to remain part of the Athlete’s clique he needs to nominate two outsiders.  We won’t discuss Jeff again but lets revisit Kevin momentarily.  Even though Kevin is best friends with Lydia thats as far as it goes.  Lydia is not in with the athletes, she is indebted to them and thats a significant difference.  I am not too sure the athletes will do her a solid and tell Ronnie not to nominate one of her allies.

The next part of the show made me wonder out loud if ‘The Soup’ will ask the question if Ronnie is straight or not?  I am going to assume he is because he is married but that’s the only thing working in his favor.  Dude has a cat, screeches like a woman, likes Legally Blonde, and the list goes on.  I have wondered for a while now but other house guests like Jeff are starting to wonder too.  Hmmm.  The awkwardness of Ronnie’s HoH suite ends and the drama of Ronnie’s betrayal now begins!

Once again, Ronnie is given the opportunity to come clean about his betrayal and once again he denies he had anything to do with it.  You know what makes it even better?  This time Michele is right there when he denies it!!  Oh wait folks, there is more!  Everyone who voted Chima to go – Casey, Jeff, Jordan, Michele, and Laura are all there and yet Ronnie still lies.  Can it get any better?  Yes, yes it can.  Ronnie now points the finger at Casey and while I think The Outsiders have confidence in Casey, Ronnie might have put some doubt in their heads.  This dude is quickly approaching Dr. Will’s level of cunningness.  Its too bad he isn’t well liked like the good doctor.  That doesn’t matter though, you don’t need to be likable to win this game, just ask Mike Boogie.

The house guests are informed its now time for a luxury competition and they have a special guest host: Dan, the winner of Big Brother 10.  The look on Jesse’s face was classic.  That dude was not happy at all.  Casey and Chima won the competition and will get to see some movie I don’t care to see so I forgot the title.  Besides seeing Dan again the other great thing to come out of the competition was that Natalie likes a sensitive guy therefore she no longer has a million reasons not to go out with me only 999,999.  I guess I should mention that we see once again that Chima is a bitch but thats not eventful because that has been established multiple times in each episode.  Why waste time re-explaining it here?

The rest of the episode, and I am talking maybe only 5-7 minutes of actual airtime, focussed on Ronnie’s nominations.  I was a bit dissapointed that the house guests did not force Ronnie to admit he voted for Braden to go but I remember from previous years, reading Alexis’s coverage on the site, nominations happen less than 48 hours after the HoH competition so I can understand why people moved away from attacking Ronnie to buttering him up. Ronnie tells the viewing audience that his nominations will either shake up the house or be safe.  He also mentions that shaking up the house would put him out there so I am going to assume he is going to make the safe nominations because Ronnie isn’t an idiot, and he knows he is already out there.  How much farther out there can he get?

Here is a play by play of the eviction ceremony.
- Ronnie gives a bullshit speech which makes America dislike him more and by America, I mean me.
-  Jordan’s key is removed and is safe.
-  Casey’s key is removed and we aren’t sure if his jaw can ever be reattached to his skull.
-  Lydia is safe.
-  Natalie is safe.
-  Jesse is safe.
-  Kevin is safe.
-  Russell is safe (and I typed that even before the key was pulled out.  Ronnie is scared of Russell.  Everybody is scared of Russell.)

The nominees are Jeff and Laura.  Ronnie takes the safe route and then gives another bullshit speech.  One of the Outsiders needs to win the veto competition not only to save one of their own but to continue to establish The Outsiders as a serious force in this house.

I was going to exit out of Netflix at this point and screw the last 30 seconds of the show but I am happy I didn’t.  Ronnie in the diary room explains his nominations and I am a bit shocked.  First, before he even speaks, Jeff, Casey, and Laura all say this is confirmation that Ronnie is a traitor.  I don’t get that.  I mean it helps the case but its a long way from a confirmation.  Second, Ronnie says his real target is Russell.  I don’t buy it but why would he lie in the diary room?  I don’t know.

Well, until Netflix puts up last night’s episode, bye!
