Week 2 – The Veto Show
I wonder if Netflix airs the entire episode or CBS provides it with a copy that is slightly edited from the aired version? I ask this because in the show recaps, I don’t remember some of the dialogue. While some of it is not critical, I am wondering if its bad memory on my part or just a cut of the show I haven’t seen because I don’t watch it on TV. Oh well! Read below for my thoughts and feelings about Tuesday’s veto show.
Big Brother replayed the reactions of Laura and Jeff about being nominated but they played a slightly different version of Ronnie’s reasoning for nominating them. I only note this because on Sunday’s nomination show, Ronnie was definitive in saying he was going to backdoor Russell but now he just says there is an opportunity to backdoor him. Hmm, that seems like a downgrade in intent.
The show does a complete 180 and goes from Ronnie’s nominations to one of the subtle but oh so noticeable storylines going on in the Big Brother House: Russell’s temper. I mentioned in a previous post that Russell will most likely control his temper because I think you may see him on another reality show, The Ultimate Fighter, if he does but another one of Russell’s issue is making it difficult for him to keep his anger under control. Russell is a control freak. We saw it from episode one when he said he will make Jesse’s nominations for him and he essentially did. Tonight, he was rebuffed by The Outsiders when he tried to connect with them. When they rejected him he went back into the house and blew up at Lydia for replying to a question that was not directed at her. Of course no one confronted him about it because even though he would get kicked out of the house for attacking them, there is still a real possibility that he might hurt them so bad, they would have to leave the house on a stretcher. Maybe the only good thing to come out of Russell’s blow-up is the whispers of everyone in the house about possibly backdooring him. While I like the idea of two strong teams, I am certainly fine with them working together this week to eliminate Russell.
After discussion of backdooring Russell, the show shifts focus to the first “shomance” of the summer. The two parties are Jeff and Jordan. I am not really big into shomances but they could be a nice pair. I don’t have any animosity for either person but neither one is very bright and that is why I think they would work out. These never do but I am trying to be optimistic here.
The players for the veto competition are selected and besides Ronnie, Laura, and Jeff, Casey, Natalie, and Russell are the three randomally selected players. Things seem to be looking bad for The Outsiders but this veto competition offers people money and slop-free passes to bow out so their chances look a little better. The veto competition was geared for a brain to win. It was simple counting. So Ronnie won right? Wrong. Dude threw the competition and wasn’t even subtle about it. By the way, a quick way to count out $100 dollars in quarters is to count out $10 in quarters and then create nine new piles of the same height.
Surprisingly, Jeff won the first round. Maybe Jeff is brighter than I gave him credit for. He then reaffirms that by winning round two even more impressively than he won round one. Laura was dreadful in this round but I still like her, silicone and all. Natalie won round three and Casey was eliminated. Natalie decided to take a bribe and I can’t blame her. In all fairness, I will admit I have favored Natalie so far but it was not a bad move. Even though she talked about backdooring Russell, she can’t be the one spearheading the movement to sandbag one of her own teammates. We are left with Jeff and Russell in the veto competition. In a good world, Jeff wins but this is Big Brother so who knows whats going to happen. Fortunately, the sun was shining and Jeff won the Power of Veto! Backdooring Russell seems very possible now but remember what I said about Ronnie changing his words from he will backdoor him to the possibility of backdooring him. Russell isn’t gone just yet folks.
Obviously the rest of the show focusses on if Ronnie will backdoor Russell. Last recap I said he would not nominate Russell because he fears him and I don’t think that has changed for this episode either. I am still wondering why he changed his words and I fear the worse. Russell is a competitor but he just brings an overall bad vibe to the house and not in the same way as Chima does. Chima is just rude while Russell is rude too he is worse because he brings fear and intimidation as well. Ronnie brings up the idea of backdooring Russell to the other house guests. I am sure millions at home are getting excited about the possibility of a backdooring coming but I hope they did not forget that Ronnie has lied and continues to lie in the game. He might be raising your hopes for nothing. I’ll admit though, he is raising mine as well. Why? He now has told Natalie and Jesse about the plan. Right now we actually see a pow-wow going on between the two factions. This might be the first time logic has been employed in the Big Brother house but is it just a mirage? Only the veto ceremony will reveal that answer.
Obviously Jeff removes himself from the block by using the veto and in classic Big Brother fashion, Ronnie does not nominate Russell but rather puts up Jordan. I told you not to get your hopes up America. Laura or Jordan maybe going home but Ronnie has now the biggest target on his back. Who goes home this week?
Russell – Laura
Jesse – Laura
Natalie – Laura
Chima – Laura
Michele – Laura
Jeff – Laura
Kevin – Laura
Casey – Laura
Lydia – Laura
Its going to be a clean sweep. I have grown to like Laura but her budding intellect is what will do her in. I am going to miss her and her two friends.

A little side note. Has anyone noticed how Jordan does not like to wear straps? Maybe this is the pervert in me thinking but I bet you she much prefers to walk around topless than to wear a top. What do you think? Discuss below!
