Afghanistan goes Gaga

Tweet In what may be the most entertaining music video homage ever shot in a war zone, a group of American soldiers stationed at a military base in southwest Afghanistan star in a lip-synced version of Lady Gaga’s hit “Telephone.” From TheSmokingGun.com … Read entire article »

Because who doesn’t want a Lil Wayne cake for their birthday?

Tweet Perez Hilton has this up this afternoon and I was so fascinated by the concept of a Lil’ Wayne cake that I hardly read the rest of the post. Apparently, Alec Baldwin’s daughter Ireland got this confectionary masterpiece for her birthday…. does she actually want to li-li-li-li-lick him like a lollipop or was this the single greatest ironic cake in history? … Read entire article »

A blunder of first date rules

Tweet You might remember Diana Glazier from her awesome ‘Sex and the City Movie’ review a while back. Well she’s back again and this time she’s laying down the law for guys on first dates. In my recent string of first dates, I have discovered that the chivalrous act of the guy paying on the first date has completely lost its charm.   Matt, a successful fitness instructor and model, asked me out to dinner a few weeks after he began calling me. He took me to a tasty downtown sushi restaurant on our first date. I eyeballed his body language as he proudly spoke about his portfolio and perfectly crafted abs. I deemed him to be successful, accomplished, and polite. He was not particularly my type, but I eased myself into the date … Read entire article »

Trashwire updates and such

Tweet It’s been a while since I last posted anything on this blog and I decided it was high time to update. Since we last spoke, I moved Trashwire to a new web host. As many of you (and our Twitter followers) know, I’d been more than a little displeased with the annoying downtimes of our former host. I’ve got to deliver Trashwire to the people 24/7! I can’t have some company standing in the way of your ability to read our completely unimportant-but-amusing ramblings! So far, so good with the new host but let me know if you notice any problems or glitches by using the contact form on the site. In other news, I decided to change the Featured Article block (that one with the larger picture off to the … Read entire article »

Tweet So Megan McCain is like a passover gift, “relevant only during cycles of 8 days” and today in particular, she manages to post her entire *cough* career through twitter in response to a recent co-worker comment. What we have learned is that she curses, she is ignorant and doesn’t realize the silver spoon in her mouth, and she doesn’t proofread 140 characters or less. Here is a small piece of her tirade. You can read the rest on Gawker.com Other writers agree McCain can’t cut it as a writer. Also, I don’t think flower shop experience can exactly parlay into an internship with Saturday Night Live … Also, if the use of “an assistant to a photographer and worked for Newsweek” is for the sole purpose of coordinating two different clauses, its not … Read entire article »

Pineapple Express sequel?

Tweet MTV.com posted this today … Rogen indulged the possibility of a “Pineapple Express” sequel. “Of all the movies we’ve done, that’s the only one that I would actually like to do a sequel to and we talk about it,” Rogen told us…. As someone who LOVED that film and is a huge fan of Rogen, James Franco and Danny McBride, I’d love another chance to watch them on screen together. … Read entire article »

Around the internet

Tweet I don’t really have enough for a full blog post today, so instead, I’m posting a few links to lists I saw on Digg that I thought were funny, amusing or interesting. Famous Mustaches Because there’s no other list that includes Salvador Dali, Ron Jeremy and Ned Flanders. 29 Creative Movie Posters Particularly well done movie posters of the past couple years. Interesting to see how movies that aren’t necessarily good sometimes have very cool poster art. Top 20 Fictional Gadgets Sure, these things aren’t real, but we can still wish they were. 14 Horrific Celebrity Plastic Surgeries Though I don’t think Octomom qualifies as a celebrity, there are certainly some genuine disasters on this list. 9 Most Obnoxious Movie Watchers An almost anthropological classification of the people who can make going to the movies pure torture. … Read entire article »

Facebook on the rise as MySpace shrinks

Tweet While browsing twitter today, I came across a link for this article about Myspace losing it’s grip as the dominant social media outlet. One particluar statement that caught my eye was, “MySpace suffered a drop in visitor traffic last month and is now less than half the size of its younger rival, Facebook.” Read the rest of this article on Trashwire.com … Read entire article »

Tweet Last time we read Megan McCain and Tila have an engaging conversation. Today we found a bf (Bitch-fit from White Chicks) between Lady Sovereign and Perez Hilton. Lady Sovereign totally bailed on Perez’s party in Austin. Her excuse, which he publicized on his blog, was that she had partied to hard. In the words of late Steve Irwin, Crickey, lets see what these animals are up to: … Read entire article »

Gerard Way is looking for a Trans Am

Tweet As many of you know, my favorite band is My Chemical Romance. Lead singer Gerard Way (@gerardway if you’re on twitter) posted an update on the band’s blog detailing his current obsession: procuring a Pontiac Trans Am. Here’s a taste of what he had to say: Some of you, who have seen my twitter about wanting a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am, may be asking yourselves, “Is this for real?” And my answer to you is one-hundred percent MFR (“Mad Fucking Real” for short). Some of you may be asking, “Why?” , so I provided this photograph to answer your questions, and if you need further persuasion- Quite simply, I need the vehicle for “research and exploration”. I will be researching the high-voltage hydra known as the 9th dimension , I will be exploring the barriers … Read entire article »

Proof that I rule – My interview with Blazer’s Edge

Tweet I recently did an interview with Ben from Blazer’s Edge, which he published on the site today. He titled the post “Alexis Gentry Rules” which means I can now say that my rad-ness is well documented and scientifically proven. Here’s a quick snippet of his intro… Alexis is Alvin’s computer-savvy, writing-whiz, self-described “fan of pop culture” and “geek-speaking” daughter.  She is the founder of a website TrashWire.com and is, perhaps, the only person alive who could convince an NBA Lifer like Alvin Gentry to plug into the latest social networking craze.  On her blog and in article-style posts, she has detailed some of the times she’s spend behind the scenes with her father and the Suns team.  It’s well-worth your time.  Read the rest at Blazer’s Edge … Read entire article »

Basketball Diaries from Planet Orange

Tweet Occasionally, it dawns on me that a lot of people I know aren’t on Twitter and haven’t seen my frequent (and some might say incessant) updates from the last week. As a result, I’m writing this blog as a continuation of my first “Basketball Diaries” post–which has nothing to do with Jim Carroll,Leonardo DiCaprio, or heroin–to detail the action, intrigue and adventure during my most recent trip out to the desert to spend some time with the Phoenix Suns…. Tweet Due to twessages coming in from every direction I will do my best to find the most tweetarded conversations taking place in the celebrity tweets. Welcome to the most Tweetarded convo ever between Tila Tequila and Megan McCain? Ummm I thought your dad hated the gays, bisexuals, and transgendered people of the world. How would conservative paapaa feel you watching A Shot at Love? And very Asian Tila, stop trying to brand yourself on alcohol Hispanic people made its kind of annoying. We gave you rice which is a bigger deal/win than what you think. … Read entire article »
