Trashwire updates and such

It’s been a while since I last posted anything on this blog and I decided it was high time to update. Since we last spoke, I moved Trashwire to a new web host. As many of you (and our Twitter followers) know, I’d been more than a little displeased with the annoying downtimes of our former host. I’ve got to deliver Trashwire to the people 24/7! I can’t have some company standing in the way of your ability to read our completely unimportant-but-amusing ramblings! So far, so good with the new host but let me know if you notice any problems or glitches by using the contact form on the site. In other news, I decided to change the Featured Article block (that one with the larger picture off to the … Read entire article »

Tweetarded

So Megan McCain is like a passover gift, “relevant only during cycles of 8 days” and today in particular, she manages to post her entire *cough* career through twitter in response to a recent co-worker comment. What we have learned is that she curses, she is ignorant and doesn’t realize the silver spoon in her mouth, and she doesn’t proofread 140 characters or less. Here is a small piece of her tirade. You can read the rest on Gawker.com Other writers agree McCain can’t cut it as a writer. Also, I don’t think flower shop experience can exactly parlay into an internship with Saturday Night Live … Also, if the use of “an assistant to a photographer and worked for Newsweek” is for the sole purpose of coordinating two different clauses, its not … Read entire article »

Tweetarded

Last time we read Megan McCain and Tila have an engaging conversation. Today we found a bf (Bitch-fit from White Chicks) between Lady Sovereign and Perez Hilton. Lady Sovereign totally bailed on Perez’s party in Austin. Her excuse, which he publicized on his blog, was that she had partied to hard. In the words of late Steve Irwin, Crickey, lets see what these animals are up to: … Read entire article »

Tweetarded

Due to twessages coming in from every direction I will do my best to find the most tweetarded conversations taking place in the celebrity tweets. Welcome to the most Tweetarded convo ever between Tila Tequila and Megan McCain? Ummm I thought your dad hated the gays, bisexuals, and transgendered people of the world. How would conservative paapaa feel you watching A Shot at Love? And very Asian Tila, stop trying to brand yourself on alcohol Hispanic people made its kind of annoying. We gave you rice which is a bigger deal/win than what you think. … Read entire article »

Film + Interactive= Happy SXSW

A definite and important decision that the people that run the SXSW Festival(s) was made for 2009. This year for the first time Film + Interactive was linked for specific panels and areas of the convention. This was absolutely a smart move on their part because film is not so different from Interactive because both involve technical detail that is viewed on a screen, a controller and some buttons set them apart. Some of the best linked panels included: Robert Rodriguez and Henry Selick Comedy on TV and the Web with Sean Mills (The Onion), B.J. Novak (The Office), Keith Richman (Break.com), Meredith Scardino (Cobert Report), Ricky Van Veen, moderator (CollegeHumor.com) Suprisingly Meredith was one of the funniest panelist and its very obvious why. SXSW Film Awards Winners and Kickoff to Music

This years Film Festival was bigger than ever. Although it isn’t officially over, there are still tons of movies to see. Some of which have won an award at this year’s film festival. Throughout the rest of the week badge holders can still see some of the movies at any of the theaters showcasing them. Still, the madness will enrage because the Music portion of the festival started yesterday and will continue until Sunday. Even though there are tons of official SXSW parties there are even more unofficial SXSW music parties. One band that I have heard in Austin that deserves some attention is this band from Oz called Porcelain. Just walking around I heard sick vocals and decided to watch their show; it was amazing. Midway Games Sponsors Movie?

This is Wil Chinchilla from Trashwire.com and I’m here at SXSW Film + Interactive covering everything that is going on in both festivals. I was at the after party for the new gamer movie 2 Bobs that is going to show again tomorrow. As I was talking to people from promotion I saw a screen that was looping a trailer video. I took a picture of the screen and I wondered why Midway’s Logo would be on the screen if they have filed for chapter 11. Did they sponsor the movie?? If so with what money? This is the picture taken on a very crappy camera phone showing the logo of the very poor company … Read entire article »

Alexis is a “local lady blogger you should know”

I was featured on a list of Denver bloggers on Examiner.com. My personal blog, “Don’t You Talk Ugly to Me”, made the list along with a mention of Trashwire! Awesome! Here’s what they had to say about yours truly: * ‘Don’t You Talk Ugly to Me!’ This blog contains the thoughts and ramblings of Denver gal Alexis Gentry, the creator and editor of Trashwire.com, a pop culture Web site. Gentry is a George Washington University grad who works for the Colorado Film Commission. From super local to national happenings, ‘Don’t You Talk Ugly to Me!’ will fulfill your craving for celeb gossip/news in an ironically not-so-trashy way. MacBook Air or WMD?

It seems that airport security is not quite up to speed on the latest technology. A man was recently stopped after security scanners didn’t believe his MacBook Air was a real computer. Macuser.com had the story: Programmer Michael Nygard travels a lot—for business, you see. He’s got his routine down to a science, from airport to hotel, and so he was surprised and dismayed to suddenly find himself in an airport security holding area while TSA agents cautiously inspected his suspicious laptop. “‘There’s no drive,’ one says. ‘And no ports on the back. It has a couple of lines where the drive should be,’ she continues….” Holy bomb-in-a-laptop, Batman! It seems like TSA agents aren’t trained in keeping up to date with technology. It wasn’t until a younger agent who’s familiar with these crazy … Read entire article »
