Gerard Way is looking for a Trans Am
As many of you know, my favorite band is My Chemical Romance. Lead singer Gerard Way (@gerardway if you’re on twitter) posted an update on the band’s blog detailing his current obsession: procuring a Pontiac Trans Am. Here’s a taste of what he had to say: Some of you, who have seen my twitter about wanting a 1979 Pontiac Trans Am, may be asking yourselves, “Is this for real?” And my answer to you is one-hundred percent MFR (“Mad Fucking Real” for short). Some of you may be asking, “Why?” , so I provided this photograph to answer your questions, and if you need further persuasion- Quite simply, I need the vehicle for “research and exploration”. I will be researching the high-voltage hydra known as the 9th dimension , I will be exploring the barriers … Read entire article »

Proof that I rule – My interview with Blazer’s Edge
I recently did an interview with Ben from Blazer’s Edge, which he published on the site today. He titled the post “Alexis Gentry Rules” which means I can now say that my rad-ness is well documented and scientifically proven. Here’s a quick snippet of his intro… Alexis is Alvin’s computer-savvy, writing-whiz, self-described “fan of pop culture” and “geek-speaking” daughter. She is the founder of a website TrashWire.com and is, perhaps, the only person alive who could convince an NBA Lifer like Alvin Gentry to plug into the latest social networking craze. On her blog and in article-style posts, she has detailed some of the times she’s spend behind the scenes with her father and the Suns team. It’s well-worth your time. Tweetarded
Due to twessages coming in from every direction I will do my best to find the most tweetarded conversations taking place in the celebrity tweets. Welcome to the most Tweetarded convo ever between Tila Tequila and Megan McCain? Ummm I thought your dad hated the gays, bisexuals, and transgendered people of the world. How would conservative paapaa feel you watching A Shot at Love? And very Asian Tila, stop trying to brand yourself on alcohol Hispanic people made its kind of annoying. We gave you rice which is a bigger deal/win than what you think. … Read entire article »

Film + Interactive= Happy SXSW
A definite and important decision that the people that run the SXSW Festival(s) was made for 2009. This year for the first time Film + Interactive was linked for specific panels and areas of the convention. This was absolutely a smart move on their part because film is not so different from Interactive because both involve technical detail that is viewed on a screen, a controller and some buttons set them apart. Some of the best linked panels included: Robert Rodriguez and Henry Selick Comedy on TV and the Web with Sean Mills (The Onion), B.J. Novak (The Office), Keith Richman (Break.com), Meredith Scardino (Cobert Report), Ricky Van Veen, moderator (CollegeHumor.com) Suprisingly Meredith was one of the funniest panelist and its very obvious why. Screenburn Arcade Finally after all of the stress of waiting … Read entire article »

New review on Trashwire – The bottomless pit of Celebreality
New article on Trashwire! Alexis’ review of Rock of Love Bus… Whenever I think reality tv has hit rock bottom, something new comes on that takes it to an all new low. The latest contender is Rock of Love Bus on VH1. The show follows Bret Michaels (who used to be known for being the lead singer of Poison but is now a puffy, middle aged reality star) and the gaggle of skanks vying for his affection, or at least a little tv time. Instead of the usual tacky mansion, this time the whole gang will be living out of buses as they follow Michaels around the country during his tour. Read more at Trashwire.com … Read entire article »

Gerard Way reviews The Pick Up Artist 2
Normally, it’s a bad idea when celebrities blog. They typically have nothing to say, can’t seem to figure out the shift key, and use sentences that run on like a marathon athlete. There are, however, a few exceptions and this is certainly one of them. I know Trashwire always has much love for My Chemical Romance, but after reading lead singer Gerard Way’s review of The Pick Up Artist 2, you’ll understand why I’ve become totally addicted to the revamped My Chemical Romance blog (RSS) and twitter posts. For more like this, check out mychemicalromance.com. “You ARE the Pick Up Artist.” I gotta admit, I got the chills when I heard Mystery say that in last night’s season finale of The Pickup Artist 2. I don’t even know how I started watching this show it’s … Read entire article »

Celebrity Rehab proves strangely addictive
Rodney King and Gary Busey walk into a bar… Actually, they don’t walk into a bar because they’re both patients on VH1’s Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew. Yes, this new season brings us another cadre of dysfunctional celebrities trying to get sober, or rather, to get more screen time. The patient list includes Busey, King, model/actress Amber Smith, former American Idol contestant Nicki McKibbin, celeb spawn Sean Stewart, former hood ornament Tawny Kitaen, drummer Steven Adler and even an encore performance from everyone’s favorite bumbling train wreck, Jeff Conaway…. Danny McBride brings home the bacon
Danny McBride is like the bacon on a cheeseburger. Without it, the burger is still good, but there’s just something even more delicious when you slap a couple pieces of bacon on top. Like the extra flavor from the bacon, McBride brings that extra level of funny to everything he touches. I first took notice of McBride way back in Hot Rod, the critically panned comedy starring the guys from The Lonely Island about a guy with a moped who longs to be a stuntman. McBride played Rico, a crass member of Rod’s crew, and instantly captured my attention with his overly serious and incredibly hilarious delivery. He was also one of the main reasons I went to see Tropic Thunder, the Ben Stiller/Jack Black/Robert Downey Jr. action comedy about a group … Read entire article »

Joe Rogan proves he’s a pro at Comedy Works in Denver
You may think Joe Rogan is a crass, misogynist, loud-mouth. You may think his act is all dick jokes or something along the lines of a revamped Andrew Dice Clay. After seeing Rogan perform at the Comedy Works in Denver last night, I can assure you that, if you do assume all those things, you’re wrong. read more | digg story … Read entire article »

Worst song lyrics ever
While browsing the web today, I came across a list of the “Top 10 Worst Song Lyrics Ever” from UK site HolyMoly. I completely agree with some of these, but how could Lil’ Mama’s “Lip Gloss” have escaped the list?! 1. I’m serious as cancer, when I say rhythm is a dancer – Rhythm Is A Dancer, SNAP! 2. I don’t want to see a ghost, it’s a sight that I fear the most, I’d rather have a piece of toast, watch the evening news – Life, DES’REE 3. Is that yo ass, or yo mama half reindeer? – Shake Ya Tailfeather, NELLY, P DIDDY & MURPHY LEE 4. He was a boy, she was a girl. Can I make it any more obvious? – Sk8er Boi, AVRIL LAVIGNE 5. The following quote appeared in an article about Lindsay Lohan in today’s Page Six: “Last time I checked, allowing a child to watch porn is against the law,” one viewer commented on GlossLip.com. Alexis is a “local lady blogger you should know”
I was featured on a list of Denver bloggers on Examiner.com. My personal blog, “Don’t You Talk Ugly to Me”, made the list along with a mention of Trashwire! Awesome! Here’s what they had to say about yours truly: * ‘Don’t You Talk Ugly to Me!’ This blog contains the thoughts and ramblings of Denver gal Alexis Gentry, the creator and editor of Trashwire.com, a pop culture Web site. Gentry is a George Washington University grad who works for the Colorado Film Commission. From super local to national happenings, ‘Don’t You Talk Ugly to Me!’ will fulfill your craving for celeb gossip/news in an ironically not-so-trashy way. “This is so tits!”
Diablo Cody posted this on her Twitter today: Which reminded me of this: Trey Parker and Matt Stone have been using “tits” as an adjective since episode 402 of South Park over 8 years ago. It seems that many people are using “tits” as an adjective these days. In fact, if you check out Jesse Blaze Snider’s MySpace page he talks about how much he loves South Park and states that the show is “totally tits.” I think it’s rad that something like this is becoming popular. In fact, it’s “big fat Oprah tits” that people are finally starting to use this South Park phrase. … Read entire article »
