A slice of TRON: Legacy

Tweet As most of you know, I wasn’t a huge fan of TRON: Legacy. One of the reasons was that it felt like a Matrix rip off instead of something that evolved from the visually rad original TRON. In addition, I felt like the characters and the plot were secondary to the effects. It had your run-of-the-mill action movie storyline and the characters were really just caricatures or stereotypes. Looking for an example? Just check out the eccentric chap in the clip below. … Read entire article »

J.J. Abrams’ SUPER 8 teaser

Tweet Last night, hordes of people flocked to midnight screenings of IRON MAN2. In addition to seeing the movie, they were also treated with an exclusive teaser for J.J. Abrams’ new film ‘Super 8′. Some clever person with a camera phone uploaded the trailer to YouTube and here it is in all it’s shaky-camera-phone-bootleg glory. Who knows how long this’ll be up, so catch it while it lasts. … Read entire article »

Wiebe’s revenge

Tweet From G4TV Legendary old-school gamer Steve Wiebe, star of documentary King of Kong, will attempt to reclaim his Donkey Kong throne at the 2009 Electronic Entertainment Expo. G4 viewers can watch the barrel-jumping action live with our exclusive access to the special event on Tuesday, June 2 as part the network’s week-long E3 coverage. John Mayer chose Twitter over Jennifer Aniston

Tweet If you needed more proof that Twitter is awesome, just take a look at what DListed (via showbizspy.com) had to say about John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston: Star Magazine thinks they know the real reason why the fartytale romance of this generation was flushed down the toilet. The reason is TWITTER! Jennifer Aniston was apparently completely over John Mayer choosing his Twitter over her twatter. Showbizspy went into detail saying: A source says, “John suddenly stopped calling her or returning her emails and when she would finally catch up with him, he’d say: ‘I’ve been so busy with work. I’m sorry I haven’t had time to call you back’. “Jen was fuming. There he was, telling her he didn’t have time for her and yet his page was filled with Twitter updates. Basically, this confirms two things: Jennifer … Read entire article »

Midway Games Sponsors Movie?

Tweet This is Wil Chinchilla from Trashwire.com and I’m here at SXSW Film + Interactive covering everything that is going on in both festivals. I was at the after party for the new gamer movie 2 Bobs that is going to show again tomorrow. As I was talking to people from promotion I saw a screen that was looping a trailer video. I took a picture of the screen and I wondered why Midway’s Logo would be on the screen if they have filed for chapter 11. Did they sponsor the movie?? If so with what money? This is the picture taken on a very crappy camera phone showing the logo of the very poor company … Read entire article »

American Idol updates on Twitter

Tweet While I just can’t bring myself to write a full story about American Idol, I have been microblogging about the show on the Trashwire Twitter. You can check out my live tweets on the sidebar during the show or head on over to twitter.com/trashwire to follow the posts and reply. Here’s a few quotes from what I had to say about last night’s contestants: Ah, Simon never disappoints. “So you’re truning your back on your band?” Elijah Scarlett sounded like the distorted effect they put on anonymous witnesses on Dateline. Now I’m worried we’ll find Leah Marie dead in her car outside Kara’s house. This dude actually thought it was a good idea to go to a shop and pay money for a tattoo that says “Sexual Chacolate” Cody Sheldon is like Sanjaya only with over-tweezed … Read entire article »
