DVD commentary tracks can be the best special feature
For years now, I’ve been quite the DVD commentary enthusiast. It began with the drunken track on the Cannibal: The Musical DVD featuring intoxicatingly funny conversation from an intoxicated Trey Parker and Matt Stone. That track showed that commentaries can be genuinely “special” features… if filmmakers use them to their full potential. Read More | Digg it Posted using ShareThis … Read entire article »

Gerard Way reviews The Pick Up Artist 2
Normally, it’s a bad idea when celebrities blog. They typically have nothing to say, can’t seem to figure out the shift key, and use sentences that run on like a marathon athlete. There are, however, a few exceptions and this is certainly one of them. I know Trashwire always has much love for My Chemical Romance, but after reading lead singer Gerard Way’s review of The Pick Up Artist 2, you’ll understand why I’ve become totally addicted to the revamped My Chemical Romance blog (RSS) and twitter posts. For more like this, check out mychemicalromance.com. “You ARE the Pick Up Artist.” I gotta admit, I got the chills when I heard Mystery say that in last night’s season finale of The Pickup Artist 2. I don’t even know how I started watching this show it’s … Read entire article »

The VMA debacle
Trashwire’s own Pat Sue Gentry shares her thoughts on the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards… Watching the VMAs last night was, in a word, torture. The only saving grace was Russell Brand, who managed to actually be entertaining during the ignominious joke of a ceremony we were all watching. At times it was more like the Kids Choice Awards then the VMAs, but during the Lil Wayne performances it sunk down to some kind of “Pimps Up, Hos Down Convention” in Vegas. The opinions and “messages” ranged from “promise to save sex for marriage”, to “give it up like free lunch”. And we wonder why kids are confused. So now half of the music industry are born-agains, who think everyone else is a super slut? I was also left feeling like hip hop should … Read entire article »

The Daily Grind
Check this out and tell me it isn’t reminiscent of Trey Parker’s early stuff. This short film was part of Apple’s Insomnia Film Festival in 2007. The film was shot, edited, and scored in only 24 hours. It also had to include certain requirements, like a character named Robin Darjeeling or the line “Don’t tempt me.” This short film comes to us from Mark Crawford, a talented filmmaker we recently met. Check out more of Mark’s work on YouTube HERE. … Read entire article »

My Chemical Romance : Rock Superheroes
It’s hard for me to write a review of a My Chemical Romance show without filling it with hyperbole and grand statements about how they are the greatest band ever. After seeing them last March at Magness Arena during their giant tour supporting The Black Parade, I was beyond excited to get another chance to bathe in the awesomeness of MCR. read more | digg story … Read entire article »
