Gerard Way reviews ‘The Pick Up Artist 2′
Normally, it’s a bad idea when celebrities blog. They typically have nothing to say, can’t seem to figure out the shift key, and use sentences that run on like a marathon athlete. There are, however, a few exceptions and this is certainly one of them. Trashwire has always had much love for My Chemical Romance, but after reading this review of VH1′s The Pick Up Artist 2 by lead singer Gerard Way, you’ll understand why I’ve become thoroughly addicted to the revamped My Chemical Romance blog (RSS) and the band’s twitter posts. … Read entire article »

Pop culture meets politics: Trashwire returns to the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner
Check out the Trashwire Blog for full-size versions and additional pics. The annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in Washington D.C. can be one of the most bizarre and surreal events of the year. Where else are you going to be able to chat with Henry Kissinger and Heidi Montag in the same room? This year’s event marked the fourth time Trashwire has covered the pre-party scene and, as usual, it didn’t disappoint. The list of celebrity attendees was across the board, ranging from frequent guest like the beautiful Morgan Fairchild (who has attended more than 10 times) to WHCAD newbies like Dennis Hof, owner of Nevada’s Moonlight Bunny Ranch. To my pleasant surprise, the guest list seemed to favor humor with comedy stars like Joel McHale (host of The Soup on E!), Harold … Read entire article »

On the set with Johnny Depp
Trashwire MySpace friend Anne Rakowiecki got to realize a dream when she met Johnny Depp on the Chicago set of his new film Public Enemies. Read her firsthand account and check out her pictures below. If you would have told me years, months, or even days ago that I would someday be hugging Johnny Depp in a 7/11 parking lot across the street from Wrigley Field at five o’clock in the morning…I would have laughed in … Read entire article »

D-listers unite for ‘The Celebrity Apprentice’ on NBC
The Celebrity Apprentice made its debut last night on NBC. In the first episode, Donald Trump introduced the cast of famous faces playing for various charities. Among them were Gene Simmons from KISS, boxing champ Lennox Lewis, Taxi‘s Marilu Henner, Vincent Pastore from The Sopranos, Olympic gold medalists and Nadia Comanici and Jennie Finch, former supermodel Carol Alt, country singer Trace Adkins, Ultimate Fighting champion (and Jenna Jameson paramour) Tito Ortiz, former Telemundo exec Nely Galan, Stephen Baldwin, and lesser-known “stars” like Playboy Playmate Tiffany Fallon, and America’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan AKA the poor man’s Simon Cowell. The biggest shock of the season thus far was the return ego-maniac and perpetual d-lister Omarosa from the first season of The Apprentice. I must admit that, when I saw Omarosa would … Read entire article »

Media Big-Shots Go Crazy for Sanjaya
Last night was the annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner in DC. This is the third year Trashwire has gone to the event and we always have a great time. The first time we went was in 2005 when one of my all-time heroes, South Park co-creator Trey Parker, was a guest of the Denver Post. My dream of all dreams came true and we were able to meet Parker and talk to him about Colorado, college, Trashwire, and more. Last year, we attended the event again and also went to a few of the parties before the big dinner. That was equally awesome because we were able to mingle with some big time celebrities, hang out with Ace Young and Mandisa from American Idol and even snap a couple … Read entire article »

One Night Standup with Nick Swardson
Trashwire is growing by leaps and bounds in 2007 and we’re happy to welcome our newest writer, Wil Chinchilla. Wil recently sat down with one of the hottest comedians around, Nick Swardson, to talk about standup, gay robots, and everyone’s favorite roller skating male prostitute. If you want to be cool like Wil and submit stories to Trashwire, click here to go to the submissions page. Nick Swardson has been doing standup since the age of 19. Since then Swardson has had two half-hour specials on Comedy Central, been a spokesperson for a soft drink, written/co-written three major motion picture scripts, and is currently on a “big standup tour” throughout all improv comedy clubs. On February 17, the very straight (not gay despite certain characters) Swardson performed for a full crowd … Read entire article »

Why Trashwire loved Anna Nicole Smith
Yesterday, the world of bad movies lost a major player when buxom blonde b-movie bombshell Anna Nicole Smith passed away in her hotel room in Florida. She will be remembered by Trashwire, not only for her performance in bad movie classics like the infamous Skyscraper, but also for her classic trashy reality show The Anna Nicole Show. Her body of work brought us fantastic bad movie quotes like everyone’s favorite line from Skyscraper, “Well excuse me for still believing in Sunday walks in the park and little babies.” Her reality show also introduced us to other pop culture d-list figures like her designer Bobby Trendy or her homely assistant Kimmy. The show even spawned parodies on shows like SNL, which summarized the first episode in an animated “TV Funhouse” clip showing … Read entire article »

LaToya’s got a gun!
Ok, you know how I said The Surreal Life Fame Games was the greatest celebreality show on TV? Well that was before I saw the premiere episode of Armed and Famous on CBS. The race for the most outrageous celebrity reality challenge is heating up with this new contender. In the first episode, the cast arrived in Muncie, Indiana to being their training in hopes of becoming official police officers. First to appear was Erik Estrada, … Read entire article »
