Fact: Tina Fey is one of the funniest people ever, therefore 30 Rock is one of the funniest TV shows ever. I quote the show almost constantly and know most episodes by heart, so it was nearly impossible for me to come up with my favorite Liz Lemon moments. This list originally began as a top 10 and ballooned up to 20 when I kept cracking up at YouTube videos while I was gathering clips and images. Continue reading
Some people say that women aren’t funny. In fact, in the grand history of comedy, women have been mostly relegated to playing girlfriends and wives of the leading men. Even today, many of comedy’s female stars are considered hot chicks first and comediennes second. If Hollywood does make a movie with a predominately female cast, it’s a “chick flick” and and the laughs are sparse. Thankfully, Will Ferrell’s hilarious delivery, combined with a good script and stellar performances from the rest of the cast, makes Megamind an excellent animated film. Continue reading
It’s no secret that I love Tina Fey. As she so brilliantly put in it 30 Rock, “she is my heroine, and by that I mean lady hero and not that I want to inject her and listen to jazz.” The new comedy Date Night teams her up with Steve Carell in what might seem like a run-of-the-mill romantic comedy. Instead, the film is witty and boasts truly funny performances from its cast. Continue reading

From the original version of The Office to his uniquely hilarious turn hosting the Golden Globes this year to his incredibly funny podcasts with writing partner Stephen Merchant and round-headed friend Karl Pilkington, Gervais has proven to be a comedic master. His directorial debut The Invention of Lying hit DVD and Blu-ray this week and I was eager to get my hands on a copy to check out the special features. Continue reading
