Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves is a fantasy story more in line with Guardians of the Galaxy than Lord of the Rings. Frankly, that type of lighthearted movie is a welcome one in a landscape where every PG-13 adventure feels weighed down with franchise expectations.

It could even fall into the cynical Hollywood fake empowerment category if the themes and characters didn’t hit just right. Instead, director Gina Prince-Bythewood’s film draws you in with incredible performances and gets you fully invested in every moment by the time the credits roll.
Three Thousand Years of Longing, from director George Miller and starring Idris Elba and Tilda Swinton, is a visually stunning tale that celebrates storytelling and takes its time building its own narrative.
