Back in the 1980s when the original Red Dawn was released, Americans were terrified of the communist Soviet Union. In the new Red Dawn remake, it’s communists from North Korea invading Spokane, Washington. Thankfully, a group of kids, lead by Chris Hemsworth, are there to defend their town and their country.
If Madonna thought Rita Hayworth “gave good face”, I can only imagine her reaction to Angelina Jolie in The Tourist. Like Mr. & Mrs. Smith, this film takes two really, really, ridiculously good looking people, Jolie and Johnny Depp, and pairs them in an sometimes romantic, sometimes comedic espionage thriller.
It’s too bad The Expendables isn’t billed as a comedy, because it’s one of the funniest movies I’ve seen all year. Imagine if Tommy Wiseau was picked to write and direct The A-Team, but at the last second, they couldn’t secure the rights, so they had to make a low-budget rip off with aging action…
