‘Ghostbusters’ is a silly little comedy that became a cultural lightning rod

Remember when The Interview came out and everyone decided that seeing a silly little comedy was some kind of patriotic act of defiance to North Korea? The all-female Ghostbusters reboot is a lot like that—a silly little comedy that somehow ignited a culture war on the internet and became way more significant than it probably should have been.

KEEGAN-MICHAEL KEY as Clarence and JORDAN PEELE as Rell in New Line Cinema's action comedy "KEANU," a Warner Bros. Pictures release.

Key and Peele hit the big screen with hilarious results in ‘Keanu’

Whenever stars of TV sketch comedy transition to the big screen, the question on everyone’s mind is: will this just feel like a sketch stretched out to 90 minutes? Thankfully with Keanu, the answer is no. Yes, there are some lulls and a few jokes that don’t always land, but the impeccable chemistry between the two makes their dialogue exchanges absolutely hilarious. And did I mention that adorable kitten?

‘Inside Amy Schumer’ is back and sharper than ever in season 4

You’d be remiss to write off Inside Amy Schumer as “chick comedy” and discount how smart is it. While there are jokes about periods, bikini waxes, and other more female-slanting topics, this is one of the sharpest shows on Comedy Central—and this is a network that is home to my favorite show of all time, South Park. In the season 4 premiere, Amy Schumer brings her trademark sharp, edgy humor to topics like relationship politics, actual politics, and even the Broadway smash Hamilton, all with her witty and unique spin that we love so much.

‘Pee-wee’s Big Holiday’ a genuine delight

This week, the nostalgia gods at Netflix delivered Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, which sees the titular hero befriending Joe Manganiello and going on a road trip. The movie’s funniest moments aren’t a snarky nod to dated nostalgia, they’re genuine and played with conviction, reminding us why we’ve loved Pee-wee Herman for three decades and counting.

Season 19 of South Park kicked off on Comedy Central this week, and I wanted to do something to celebrate my favorite show of all time, so I decided to create a top ten list. From tap dancing to becoming a super villain, Butters has gone from just a kid in the background to one of South Park’s most loved characters. Here are my ten favorite episodes featuring Butters.

Counting down the top 20 ‘Key & Peele’ sketches of all time

I was devastated when Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele announced that they were ending Key & Peele, one of my all-time favorite shows. Not only are their sketches hilarious, but they’re also smart and incredibly viral. I could always count on sharing a favorite from the most recent episode to discuss with my friends on Facebook the day after it aired. In celebration of the departure of one of the greatest sketch comedy shows ever, here are my top 20 favorite Key & Peele sketches.
