This week, the nostalgia gods at Netflix delivered Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, which sees the titular hero befriending Joe Manganiello and going on a road trip. The movie’s funniest moments aren’t a snarky nod to dated nostalgia, they’re genuine and played with conviction, reminding us why we’ve loved Pee-wee Herman for three decades and counting.
Magic Mike XXL isn’t exactly an Oscar contender, and it’s not trying to be. Despite an unnecessarily long runtime, the movie still delivers enough of the goods (read: shirtless dudes with amazing bodies) to be enjoyable.
