It’s that time again, time for the entire internet to collectively lose its mind over a Star Wars movie. Somewhere between all the hyperbole is the reality about The Rise of Skywalker.
Like the filler queens on RuPaul’s Drag Race, Solo: A Star Wars Story isn’t the hot mess it could have been, but it also won’t have us quoting it years into the future.

This year, we saw some pretty crappy “fan” behavior, from Rick and Morty fans storming McDonald’s for dipping sauce to Star Wars fans claiming The Last Jedi ruined their childhoods. Was it always like this, or were fans of 2017 just way, way too passionate about pop culture?

Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi’ has the difficult task of being the middle child in the new Star Wars trilogy, but even when it isn’t great, it’s still damn good.
If the main saga Star Wars movies are The Lord of the Rings, then Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is more like Game of Thrones. Instead of legendary heroes and Jedi magic, Rogue One is more grounded in reality with a small, rag-tag group of rebels who manage to do something extraordinary. Because of the shift away from the fantasy roots of the main trilogy and a stronger focus on action, Rogue One is a more grown-up tale from the galaxy far, far away.

The Force Awakens is first and foremost a film for Star Wars fans. Even the heroes themselves are fans, well-versed in the legends of Luke Skywalker and General Leia. With great performances from the new stars and a director who understands how to deliver a film worthy of its source material, The Force Awakens gives me hope that the new era of Star Wars films will live up to the original trilogy.
Anakin Skywalker is not happy with what Lucas has done to his character, so he’s voicing his objections Gotye style in this parody.

Everyone knows I love the Suns and, if you follow me on twitter, you know that I have a recurring theme of tying the Suns to Prince’s outstanding 80s music/movie extravaganza Purple Rain. Never...
