‘The Umbrella Academy’ is a character-driven family drama about superheroes in a sea of action-driven epics, and that makes it a tremendously satisfying watch that hooks you from the start and keeps you engaged through the end credits of the final episode.
This week, the nostalgia gods at Netflix delivered Pee-wee’s Big Holiday, which sees the titular hero befriending Joe Manganiello and going on a road trip. The movie’s funniest moments aren’t a snarky nod to dated nostalgia, they’re genuine and played with conviction, reminding us why we’ve loved Pee-wee Herman for three decades and counting.
