‘The Umbrella Academy’ is a character-driven family drama about superheroes in a sea of action-driven epics, and that makes it a tremendously satisfying watch that hooks you from the start and keeps you engaged through the end credits of the final episode.
You’d be remiss to write off Inside Amy Schumer as “chick comedy” and discount how smart is it. While there are jokes about periods, bikini waxes, and other more female-slanting topics, this is one of the sharpest shows on Comedy Central—and this is a network that is home to my favorite show of all time, South Park. In the season 4 premiere, Amy Schumer brings her trademark sharp, edgy humor to topics like relationship politics, actual politics, and even the Broadway smash Hamilton, all with her witty and unique spin that we love so much.
With smart writing, excellent visuals, and stellar performances, it was easy to get completely absorbed in Fargo, in part because it reminded me a lot of another one of my favorite binge-watching shows: Breaking Bad.
