Do you like monkey movies?

Netflix has introduced a new way of sorting films and saving preferences. The new model involves rating a giant series of keywords and categories so that their system can determine the exact type of movies you are most likely to add when you see them as suggestions.

Here’s a sample of some of the new “Taste Preferences”

Netflix Taste preferences

Netflix has a monkey category

Aside from the fact that this looks like a gigantic marketing survey and has all the excitement of an unwatered houseplant, one category was certainly amusing to me….. the Monkey category.

I was unaware that monkey movies were their own genre, but according to Netflix, there are many people who only get enjoyment from seeing films about and starring primates. Give them anything with an ape and they’re happy. Hell, even a Sasquach will probably do the trick!

Another amusing note here is that Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back landed on the list despite the fact that there’s an orangutan in that movie for probably less than 15 minutes.
