‘Dune: Part Two’ Delivers an Epic Big Screen Experience
Check out this quick review on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
It’s time to journey back to Arrakis and ride a big old worm in Dune: Part Two.
One of the strongest elements of Dune: Part One was the way Denis Villeneuve was able to take a very dense and complex story and make it accessible to movie audiences. He does the same here, but it’s even more effective because we’ve already built the world and now we get more of the story.
The characters are more complex with deeper motivations and emotions, and we meet a slew of new important figures including Christopher Walken as the Emperor, Florence Pugh as his daughter Princess Irulan, and Austin Butler as the brutal and ruthless Feyd-Rautha.
The core of the movie, though, is Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya as Paul Atreides and Chani. Their chemistry is so evident in this movie and their scenes show us the start of a growing conflict. It’s so impressive to have this many young actors all giving such phenomenal performances in one film.
Visually, this is one of the most beautiful movies I’ve ever seen. I don’t think there is another director working today who understands scale on the level of Villeneuve. Things feel enormous, epic, and sweeping in a way that completely immerses you in the world and makes you feel like they shot on location in Arrakis. It’s an absolutely stunning film.
Because of the pandemic, lot of people didn’t get the chance to see Dune: Part One in the theater, but Dune: Part Two definitely deserves the big-screen experience. It’s an excellent film and I know we’re still super early in the year, but this is probably going to make my top 10 for 2024.
